Less Is More?!

We’re all so busy – so who wouldn’t want to exercise less and get more results? Well, meet High-Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, it is regaining popularity thanks in part to our crammed lifestyles.

You need to already be in pretty good shape to try HIIT. But even the less fit among us can apply some HIIT principles to our work–outs!

Some HIIT tips

Always warm up for 5 minutes before trying any intense activity.

Don’t try to push through pain with exercise.

Do some stretching at the end of your workout while your muscles are warm and supple.

A typical HIIT session should last anywhere between 4 minutes (like Tabata) and 15 minutes. Overuse injuries can arise if workouts are too long; cap HIIT workouts at 30 minutes.

Has anyone tried incorporating HIIT into their exercise regimen?  If so what do you love/hate about it?
